LOC Lecture on C-SPAN

"From the Library of Info to the Library of Things"

March 28th at 6:30pm, CSPAN will broadcast a lecture by Neil Gershenfeld, Director of the Center for Bits and Atoms at MIT.

He is proposing a new Internet infrastructure to uniquely identify and interconnect every electronic device, eliminating the need for servers.

While I can this may have some cool applications, given that there will always be some who prefer the black hat, it is also exceedingly dangerous. You want to take a chance that someone in on the other side of the planet could control your furnace, elevator or alarm system? Is it any better if they can only "monitor" these?
